New Era of Prattville School Spirit Unveiled
Autauga County Schools is promoting a greater sense of unity and pride through a rebranding initiative that officially acknowledges what many in the community have believed for years. The "One Town, One Team" initiative brings together all students in Prattville schools under one mascot—the proud and spirited Prattville Lions. This effort represents more than just a new appearance; it signifies a collaborative new chapter for the entire community. The goal is to enhance the district’s identity and foster a shared sense of spirit across all grade levels.
The Lions will now symbolize every school in Prattville, from elementary through high school. This is a significant move towards creating an inclusive environment where students, staff, parents, and alumni can unite behind a single symbol, regardless of their individual school. Prattville High School and Prattville Junior High School will proudly showcase the trademarked "Power P" logo, while Prattville Kindergarten School, Prattville Primary School, Prattville Elementary School, Prattville Intermediate School, and Daniel Pratt Elementary School will adopt a cartoonish lion image that will appear the same across all campuses, with a unique accessory representing each elementary school.
“We believe that by unifying under one mascot, we can foster a stronger, more cohesive culture,” said Lyman Woodfin, Superintendent of Autauga County Schools. “This change is about more than just a logo or an image; it’s about building community and ensuring that every student feels connected to something larger than themselves or their individual schools. Additionally, this initiative allows us to reduce expenses by sharing athletic materials and equipment, and it offers our families the opportunity to purchase spirit wear that can be worn for many years, rather than having to restock every two years as students transition to the next school.”
The decision to adopt a unified mascot has been discussed for several years. However, thanks to the collaborative efforts of many employees, board members, fans, and community supporters, along with key athletic hires and necessary gym floor renovations, the timing for today’s announcement is right. The rebranding starts with the unveiling of Prattville Junior High School’s new gym floor, symbolizing the transformation from Cats to full-grown Lions. The initiative will gradually roll out, allowing all Prattville schools to update their visual elements at appropriate times, minimizing additional expenses.
“We’re excited for what our future holds, and we believe this unified mascot will serve as a constant reminder that we’re all part of the same team,” said Blake Boren, Prattville High School’s Athletic Director. “Whether we’re on the field, in the classroom, or in the community, we are all the Prattville Lions!
